Radar Flood Monitoring and Water Level Detector for Outdoor and Critical Infrastructure

The Clear The Air Flood (CTA-F) is a radar-based flood monitoring sensor designed for flood-prone environments and critical water infrastructure. With a measurement range of up to 8 metres and accuracy of ±20mm, it delivers continuous real-time water level data to the Clear The Air platform, enabling faster response times and reducing the risk of damage before flood conditions develop.

Unlike float-based or contact sensors, it uses non-contact radar technology with no moving parts, no fouling and no maintenance, making it the reliable choice for permanent outdoor deployment in harsh environments.

Where to Use It

Drains and culverts benefit from continuous water level monitoring, with instant alerts when levels begin to rise giving teams time to intervene before urban flooding occurs. Rivers and watercourses are monitored by local authorities, environmental agencies and landowners using it as a real time flood monitoring and warning system, tracking rising water and triggering early warning alerts for downstream properties and infrastructure. Properties and land in designated flood zones use it as a flood monitoring and alerting system that gives landowners and facilities managers advance warning during periods of high rainfall. Water companies and infrastructure operators use it to monitor reservoir levels, sluice gates and water management infrastructure continuously. Car parks, tunnels, underpasses and basement plant rooms use it to detect rapid water ingress before flooding causes damage. Construction sites use it to monitor excavations, drainage systems and temporary works during rainfall events, keeping site managers informed and compliant.

What It Measures

The CTA-F measures water level from 0 to 8,000mm with ±20mm accuracy using radar with no moving parts. Hourly reporting with up to 24 uploads per day on a single non-rechargeable lithium battery lasting up to 4 years.

Key Features

Radar technology eliminates the failure points of every alternative. Float sensors foul with debris. Pressure sensors drift over time. The CTA-F uses non-contact measurement with no moving parts, no fouling from vegetation or debris and no maintenance requirements, making it the flood monitoring system built for permanent deployment where other sensors fail. IP68 waterproof housing makes it fully submersible and operational from -30°C to +85°C. At 183 x 183 x 38mm it mounts directly over drains, culverts, rivers and water infrastructure without specialist installation. Custom threshold alerts send smartphone notifications when water levels reach defined limits. Full historical data and trend analysis is available on the Clear The Air web platform and mobile app, with exportable data for Environment Agency, local authority and insurance reporting. API integration is available for flood management systems, SCADA platforms and third-party software.
