Vape - Vape Detector
Vape Detector for Schools, Hotels, Healthcare and Commercial Buildings
The Clear The Air Vape (CTA-VAP) is a professional vape detector that identifies vaping activity in real time. Using dual TVOC and eCO2 sensors, it detects the chemical signature of vape aerosols and sends instant alerts to your team via smartphone and the Clear The Air web platform, with no WiFi, no IT infrastructure and no ongoing engineer visits required.
How Do Vape Detectors Work
Smoke detectors cannot detect vape. Vape aerosols contain TVOC compounds that standard smoke alarms were never designed to identify, which is why vaping so often goes undetected in buildings that rely on them. The CTA-VAP works differently, continuously monitoring TVOC and eCO2 levels and triggering an instant alert the moment it detects the chemical spike that vaping produces. Every event is logged automatically with time, date and location.
What Does a Vape Detector Look Like
At 84 x 84 x 48mm the CTA-VAP looks like a standard environmental sensor. It mounts discreetly on any ceiling or wall and draws no attention from students, guests or passengers, which is what makes it effective.
Who Uses It
Schools use it to tackle vaping in bathrooms, changing rooms and corridors, a growing safeguarding concern that cameras cannot address without raising privacy issues. Staff receive an instant alert the moment vaping is detected. Multi-academy trusts manage every device across every site from one dashboard without WiFi infrastructure or IT involvement. Hotels use it to protect against guests vaping in non-smoking rooms, building a timestamped evidence log for charging and insurance claims. Airlines, private jet operators and charter companies add it on top of existing smoke detection systems to enforce no-vaping policies and meet CAA and FAA requirements. NHS trusts and private healthcare providers use it to monitor wards, waiting rooms and restricted areas, with the integrated motion sensor providing a secondary layer of detection for unauthorised access.
What It Detects
TVOC from 0 to 65,000ppb, eCO2 from 400 to 65,000ppm, temperature from -40°C to +125°C, humidity from 0 to 100% RH and motion with a 110° angle and 5m range.
Key Features
Dual TVOC and eCO2 sensors cross-reference two chemical signatures simultaneously, reducing false positives and improving accuracy over single-sensor vape smoke detectors. Every detection event is logged automatically with timestamp and location, giving schools, hotels, airlines and healthcare facilities the evidence they need for disciplinary proceedings, insurance claims and regulatory compliance. NB-IoT connected with an integrated eSIM, it works in any building regardless of infrastructure. All devices are managed through the Clear The Air web platform and mobile app, with API integration available for building management systems and third-party software.
